Favehotel Gatot Subroto has always carried out activities to support sustainability, such as always being active in local environmental cleaning activities which are in collaboration with local officials. Favehotel Gatot Subroto is aware of the current plastic waste problem and supports the 'no single use plastic' program in its hotels such as replacing the use of single-use plastic bottles by providing drinking water in the rooms, and guests can refill from mineral water dispensers located on every floor of the hotel.
In addition to providing mineral water dispensers for guests, Favehotel Gatot Subroto has a movement to bring reusable mineral water bottles for all hotel staff. This is an effort to overcome the problem of plastic waste as well as making a saving in the budgets. Nyoman Iswara, the General Manager of Favehotel Gatot Subroto Jakarta said, "Real savings are around 10-15% from the current use of mineral water dispensers compared to the use of mineral water in plastic bottles. We renegotiated with the garbage company, which previously came to pick up garbage every day, now after the replacement of the garbage carrier it comes every three days.”
Favehotel Gatot Subroto provides bamboo toothbrushes that can be taken home and used repeatedly and is more environmentally friendly. Disposable packaging is no longer found in Favehotel rooms, where soap and shampoo are available in dispensers, this is in line with Archipelago International's directives.
Lime Cafe & Bar is a restaurant owned by Favehotel Gatot Subroto, they serve Indonesian specialties and special local food with a certain theme that changes from time to time, such as Martabak, Mie Ayam, Soto Bogor, and others. Takeaway food box packaging made of paper is used to replace plastic box packaging. Of course, Lime Cafe & Bar does not provide single-use plastic straws.
The use of natural lighting is maximized by Favehotel Gatot Subroto by using an automatic setting system. In addition, Favehotel Gatot Subroto has replaced conventional bulbs with Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), a large investment but savings of 25-30% can be felt every month.
Favehotel Gatot Subroto has good waste management by separating organic and non-organic waste, they are in collaboration with local waste companies for waste removal. Regarding Toxic and Hazardous Material (B3) waste, Favehotel Gatot Subroto has designated a certified B3 special area.
To support sustainable tourism, socio-economic and cultural aspects are important for Favehotel Gatot Subroto. This hotel is a disabled & elderly friendly hotel. The shape of the ground floor is flat, wheelchairs are available, and has connecting rooms to support the comfort and satisfaction of guests with special needs.
Favehotel Gatot Subroto gives priority to Indonesian employees and always opens opportunities for College of Tourism students to conduct Field Work Training and has collaborated with Sahid University, Idea Indonesia in Lampung, Trisakti and several other universities. The management of Favehotel Gatot Subroto believes that the training that has been carried out at the hotel by these students provides knowledge which prepares them for work in the tourism sector, especially hospitality. Facing the Pandemic Period

Favehotel Gatot Subroto made preparations for the comfort and safety of guests by successfully going through the process of getting the 'I Do Care' or Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environment Sustainability (CHSE) certificate issued by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) of the Republic of Indonesia in November 2020.
Standard Operating Procedures have been updated and must be followed by all staff and guests. The addition of hand washing basins, hand sanitizers, and signs to prevent the spread of COVID-19 have been implemented. Guests are required to have their temperature checked and wash their hands before entering the hotel area, then register using an online system. Moreover, guests are reminded to maintain a safe distance and minimize direct contact.
Signs for mandatory wearing of masks, diligent hand washing, and social distancing have been placed at many points in the hotel area. The process of room sterilization and disinfection is carried out when guests leave the room. The meeting room has been arranged so that meeting participants can maintain a safe distance. All staff are required to test using Rapid Antigen every month.
